The Hammond XK-7D is a professional dual-manual digital organ designed to deliver the authentic sound, response and control of a classic Hammond tonewheel organ with modern digital flexibility. Featuring Hammond's new 6 Contacts Long (6L) keybed, Virtual Electro Mechanical (VEM) sound engine, 108 digital tonewheels and four sets of harmonic drawbars, the XK-7D provides expressive control for live performance, studio recording and organ playing.

The XK-7D combines authentic Hammond-style controls with an advanced digital Leslie rotary speaker, expanded tonewheel parameters and a wide range of organ voices. Transistor and pipe organ sections add further versatility, while the large colour display, dedicated effects controls and comprehensive connectivity make the XK-7D a powerful choice for professional organists.

Authentic Hammond Organ Sound

The Virtual Electro Mechanical sound engine recreates the characteristics of a classic Hammond tonewheel organ, including the response and tonal behaviour of the original instrument. With 108 digital tonewheels, dedicated Key Click and Leakage controls, and expanded tonewheel parameters, the XK-7D provides detailed control over the elements that define classic Hammond sound.

Dual 6L Keyboards

The XK-7D features Hammond's new 6 Contacts Long keybed, designed to provide an authentic Hammond playing experience. Each key uses six mechanical contact points to reproduce the response and playing techniques associated with traditional Hammond organs. The dual-manual configuration provides two keyboards for layered sounds, split registrations and expressive organ performance.

Real-Time Drawbar Control

Four sets of harmonic drawbars provide direct control over the XK-7D's organ tone. The hands-on drawbar layout allows players to shape registrations and adjust harmonic content in real time, making it easy to create sounds ranging from traditional jazz and gospel organ to rock and modern performance tones.

Digital Leslie Rotary Speaker

The integrated digital Leslie system recreates the distinctive movement and character of a rotary speaker. Dedicated controls provide access to the Leslie effect, while the Digital Leslie Gain function adds control over rotary speaker overdrive for a more driven organ sound.

Expanded Organ Voices

Beyond its Hammond tonewheel sounds, the XK-7D includes enhanced transistor and pipe organ sections for additional tonal variety. Italian, British and Japanese Ace-style transistor voices expand the range of classic electronic organ sounds, while the Classical and Theatre pipe organ sections provide 40 virtual ranks.

Preamp and Tonewheel Control

The XK-7D provides detailed control over the characteristics of its organ sound with dedicated Key Click, Leakage and tonewheel parameters. The Preamp function models the characteristics of vintage Hammond AO-28 and AO-29 preamps, including tube and stompbox modelling options for additional tonal shaping.

Effects and Performance Controls

Dedicated Reverb and Delay controls provide convenient access to onboard effects, while the XK-7D's comprehensive performance controls allow players to adjust their sound without interrupting their performance. The large colour display provides clear access to the organ's deeper settings and functions.

Professional Connectivity

The XK-7D is designed for flexible stage and studio integration. An 11-pin Leslie output allows connection to a compatible physical Leslie cabinet, while the separate Bass output can be assigned to pedal output for use with a dedicated bass amplifier or sound reinforcement system. A lowpass filter on the full-frequency output also allows convenient routing to a powered subwoofer.
