Danelectro '57 Electric Guitar Black

The Danelectro 57 brings all the style, flair, and tone of the original 57's to a high-performance modern instrument. The Danelectro 57's center-blocked, semi-hollow construction and Vintage '50s Lipstick pickups give you the spank, chime, grit, and chunk of a real-deal vintage original. Tone toggling and voice tailoring are easily done using the 57's rugged 3-way switch and space-saving concentric volume/tone controls. Cream-buttoned Gotoh tuning machines, a U3 intonatable saddle bridge, and a dual-action truss rod give the modern '57 a leg up on a true '50s model.

This guitar's time-honored semi-hollowbody construction adds a rich resonance to leads and chords. Thanks to its spruce frame and inner center block, the 57 won't feed back as easily onstage as the original - though it can certainly be coaxed into feedback territory for high-gain applications. The maple neck features a classic Coke Bottle headstock and a 14"-radius pau ferro fingerboard for high performance and a timeless look.

Frame construction: Instead of being a single block of solid wood, the body is built from a thin plywood or masonite top and back attached to a wooden frame that runs around the perimeter and in the center.

Air cavities: This leaves hollow chambers inside on either side of the center frame. They aren’t completely hollow like an acoustic, but they aren’t solid like a Strat or Les Paul either.

Center block: The wooden center strip supports the bridge and neck, reducing feedback compared to a fully hollow guitar while still giving some of that airy resonance.

Tone result: The semi-hollow construction gives the Danelectro that slightly “woody,” open sound with a bit more sustain than a full hollow body, while keeping it lightweight.
