It boasts everything players love about the Danelectro '59, including the distinctive shorthorn shape, a fully adjustable wraparound bridge, and stacked tone/volume controls. And with a pair of NOS+ lipstick pickups, you've got the character of the original NOS pickups but with brighter highs, punchier mids, and more powerful lows.Ā 

NOS+ lipstick pickups for definitive Danelectro tone

Based on the sonic character of their original NOS single-coil pickups, the NOS+ pickups in this '59M NOS+ guitar have been optimized for hotter output and livelier tone overall ā€” punchier lows and mids, and highs with more clarity and bite. They sound particularly amazing for bluesy slide work and pair beautifully with an overdriven tube amplifier.

Frame construction:Ā Instead of being a single block of solid wood, the body is built from a thin plywood or masonite top and back attached to a wooden frame that runs around the perimeter and in the center.

Air cavities:Ā This leaves hollow chambers inside on either side of the center frame. They arenā€™t completely hollow like an acoustic, but they arenā€™t solid like a Strat or Les Paul either.

Center block:Ā The wooden center strip supports the bridge and neck, reducing feedback compared to a fully hollow guitar while still giving some of that airy resonance.

Tone result:Ā The semi-hollow construction gives the Danelectro that slightly ā€œwoody,ā€ open sound with a bit more sustain than a full hollow body, while keeping it lightweight.
